I am going to open the floor for discussion of transmission slippage.

*Reverse works when transmission is cold
*Slips between 2 and 3 when cold
*95% slippage in reverse when transmission is warm
*forward seems fine when transmission is warm
*Have not tested passing gear / downshift

5 years old, 65,000 miles, Saturn SL2, automatic transmission, 3 speed.
Checked the fluid level, fluid level is good, fluid color is good.
Checked wiring and shifter cable, both good.
Never have replaced transmission filter. (possible cause)

My first thoughts is something to do with the valve body / fluid flow. A malfunctioning valve is hindering fluid flow, and preventing the fluid from getting to maximum pressure when and where it needs to be. There is also the computer, as most modern transmission are computer controlled.

I wonder if I reset the computer by disconnecting the battery? Hmmmm.

Taking in to Saturn tomorrow to get the problem diagnosed.

Oh, and I might need transportation to a from the Saturn shop tomorrow. I plan on dropping it off 7:00am tomorrow morning and then going to work. If nobody is availible, I'll call my office and see if anyone from work can pick me up and bring me in.

Otherwise, later that morning afternoon or evening, I will probally need to get back to the dealership to pick the car up, whatever it's fate might be.

ugh.

So tomorrow my copy of The Return of the King, extended version will arrive.

Probably about the same time I have my car in the shop for transmission repairs.

For every good thing that occurs, I have an almost equal and opposite negative event that keeps firmly at square 54 on the game board of life. No not square one, or square zero, I do have some accomplishments under my belt. But it is always 1.07 square forward, 1.0 square back.

ugh.

stupid universe.

Christmas at my house is always at least six or seven times more pleasant than anywhere else. We start drinking early. And while everyone else is seeing only one Santa Claus, we'll be seeing six or seven.
