Okay maybe lie is too strong. Maybe to recommend a course of action we must take, that we must take as quickly as possible, that we will regret for years to come.
I think Jon Stuart put it best last night. "This is the turd icing on the shit cake, right?"
The more I think about it, yes lets do the bail out. But we take control of the company, fire them all, and expect return payment of the principal with 20% interest. Take the properties in question and sell them to Habitat for Humanity for 20% of the current market value. Use the 20% interest to offset the repair costs for these homes and use the rest for a tax break.
The downside would be the further erosion of home values since so many would be going to market on the cheap. But that's probably going to happen anyways.
