I think I've posted about this subject before, CERN the massive new particle collider in central Europe, and the efforts to stop it. I'm sure just about everyone has heard about it, that some think it may spawn a black hole and swallow the Earth.
I guess I'm not to terribly concerned about such a event, after all particles collide every day.
But the one thought I've always held is if there is in fact a scientific "off switch" for intelligent civilization. That an "intelligent" civilization will get so far and will inevitably run experiment X and destroy themselves.
Hence the lack of results from SETI. Since the civilizations in question only emit radio for about XXX years before running experiment X and going boom.
