LeAnn is getting in better spirits these days. Being able to contribute to running the house is a big one. Probably the best therapy she can possibly get, it involves writing, walking, hands and eyes, the total package of life around the home. She has also been out shopping, we took her grocery shopping last weekend and she was able to use one of those little electric carts. We set a new spending record at the grocery store that day, as my shopping style does not include lots of snack type things, and she was set to restock our snacking supply.

I need that vacation, I’m effective at my job, but not as effective as I would expect of myself. I have little spurts of activity, interest and motivation. I need to go hermit out somewhere, somewhere with no clock. Why no clock you ask? Because once I go somewhere that lacks a clock, a TV schedule, computer and such, my internal clock goes straight to its natural cycle. My natural cycle is being up about an hour after sunrise, asleep about an hour after dark and sleeping hard. Clocks and schedules only give me a reference point to use against my natural cycle.

Maybe I might need a solo trip up to Snowshoe Lodge for 4-5 days with a stack of books, my ice fishing gear and a case of beer.

Oh, and maybe some food. Food is good.

I should be getting Rowan out ice skating most evenings now the weather is colder. I’m shopping for hockey sticks for both of us. They must be smoking crack though, $75 $150 for a hockey stick? When did Reebok start making hockey sticks?

Can't go home yet, I need to wait for a truckload of material from Woodbury, MN. It departed about an hour ago, so it can't be too much longer, but then again it's rush hour.

The truck driver is a real trip though, his name is Roy. Roy was born and raised in Minnesota, then spent 30 years living in Texas and returned to Minnesota. He appears to have rolled down a hill straight out of hillbilly land is about 64 years old and talks in a very slow drawl. Then on top of it he can tell long stories that never have any point, and rarely make any sense. He has a chunk of cardboard he uses as a note book, he will use it all year and get a new one at the start of the new year.

In short I think he’s great. He once told me about the difference between signaling a turn in Texas and doing the same in Minnesota. I can’t remember it word for word, but I remember being spellbound by the nonsense.

Why in Teeexas, they signal funny. They jus’ kinda stick their hand out the window like this **waves his hand a bit**, and then they un’ turn. An you don’t know bout no turn some of the time, other times you do. Ither times they will use a turn signal light like they do up here in Minnesota, but most the time they go like this. But it’s funny like that in Texas, dun make no sense all-of-the-time. But it really snows up here, so I figure things must be kinda different like that.

Other times he has nuggets of wisdom. Like when we were watching the news one day.

Sometimes it rains, other times it don't.

It’s too bad I don’t always have time to listen, because the stories are long and slow. But sometimes that’s okay because he will follow you and continue the story. Once I watched him carry a conversation to someone who was reading a newspaper. He just sat down in front of the person and started yapping, , five minutes later the person realized he was being spoken to and put down the paper.

The guys make fun of him behind his back all the time, and I like to impersonate him from time to time. I don't really approve of it as he is one of the nicest fellows you may ever meet. As for when I impersonate him, it has more to do with missing having the real thing around, but I still try to keep it to a minimum.
