Things are remarkably calm. Added some compost and peat moss to the garden and planted some zucchini squash, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, cayenne peppers and potatoes yesterday. Earned myself a April sunburn on my back. Noticed the tomato seedlings popped up last night on the back porch. Oregano, chives and sweet basil taking off in the herb garden, where the hell is the parsley is I have no idea, I will need to replant. Sage is ready for transplanting.

Sat in the backyard and watched the first real thunderstorm of the season roll in while I sipped on a Firebrick lager. I love the smell of a impending thunderstorm. 40 mph gusts sending various parts of trees flying past me or hitting me. Three different layers of clouds of various shades of gray mixed with each other like a blender, serious updrafts sucking the lower layers into holes in the lower clouds. Watched a duck fly sideways over my head. Sat there as it began to rain, got rained on like some sort of fool. Mother nature is awesome, I never tire of watching her, even when she brings death, because in the same stroke she will bring life. I don't bow before any god, but I will readily acknowledge that Mother nature is certainly the boss of me.

Everything is green this morning.

My Elven Fighting Knifes are shipping today.

I too spent some time watching the storm roll in. Mother Nature rocks. It's funny, you'd think rainwater was green, the way everything was sooooo much greener today.

can't wait to check out those blades!

So..lets say that the 40mph gusts of wind that preceded the storm yesterday lifted up a small chunk of shingles on the front of my house. How would one go about fixing that?

It's gonna take a lot of firecrackers to clean up that mess...

Oh, can you send photos? I can get a better idea of what a "small chunk" is.

Depends on how "lifted" the material is.

If it was lifted to the point of some folding damage that could affect tensile strength, the shingle in question should be replaced.

Otherwise that leftover Henry roof sealant should do the trick. Just apply some under the tab. Its possible I can tackle it when we come by to pick up the bed.

Your playing with dangerous stuff planting so early.. You do know that Last Hard Frost date is May 15th,, and that the low tuesday and wedndesday night is forcast to be 30?

I understand the temptation, but have lost too many plants to a decievingly early spring...

Good luck.

Planting the peppers from seed in the garden. The peppers won't do jack until the soil temperature gets higher. Just going to let mother nature drive as far as when the peppers poke out. I've had success with that in the past.

The basil came back by itself in march (seeds?) this year and has endured temps as low as 20...don't ask me how. I noticed several dozen little basil looking seedlings poking out in March, so I pulled one up and rolled it in my hand. Sure enough it was basil, stunk my hands up for hours.

Tomatoes are going to stay on the porch for a few more weeks.
