Dec. 3rd, 2008 07:57 pmBeen going to the job, deer hunting on the weekends. Work has been busy, deer hunting has been slow. I've yet to see a deer, the harvest has been slim pickings for some reason in Minnesota this year. The population is there, but they have been laying low, with little or no moving during daylight hours. One factor was weekends with crap weather and the corn harvest was very late this year. They could lay in the corn eat themselves silly and have some protection from the cold winds.
My cousin Robert brought one in the second day of the firearms season.
And there were two others, but there should be at least six by the end of the seasons. This weekend I'm going up for another weekend of muzzleloader season, using the .50 caliber flintlock. LeAnn is going to join me this time, as well as Rowan. They get to lounge around the house while I drag in firewood with the ATV and hunt at dawn and dusk.

I'm still amazed by our new president elect, he keeps doing things that almost sound...well, er, smart. That he seems that way does raise my suspicion level. You know the saying, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. But I get the feeling as the time goes by that he ain't fucking around.

The 401k has a net gain of -47.3% since January 1, 2008. Half the money that was there is at the moment, gone (enough to buy a very very nice car). But I'm in it for the long investment, so unless this downturn lasts another twelve years I'm not all that concerned, in fact it's a 50% off sale for mutual funds right now.
