Apr. 17th, 2008 10:54 amI called the hospital patient reps about the stream of red tape they keep throwing my way. I expressed my approval of some of the doctors but disappointment in their billing process. I asked that they assist me is cleaning up the red tape.
They explained that the hospital is like a warehouse, instead of goods, they warehouse doctors and their services and I would need to deal with each provider separately.
I attempted to explain that was the exact problem, they have this bunch of doctors running around willy-nilly as separate services, some in my insurance network, some out of my insurance network. That I need assistance in wrapping this all up into something manageable.
Seemed to fall on deaf ears.
Then I also asked about the infection LeAnn picked up in the hospital, as this five month $525,000 cluster fuck all started with a hospital grade super bug. A hospital grade super bug you don’t pick up just anywhere, you can only get them in a hospital. Where was the hospital’s responsibility in preventing the infection that started this entire mess? They explained that infection is typical risk of surgery, and I understand that. But this went further than a simple little pile of puss on an incision. This became deadly serious and made our life miserable, I did not think this fell under “oh well, those are the risks” situation. As a matter of fact, why I’m I even paying one red cent? I bet if the hospital had to cover costs of post surgical infection as opposed to the patient and insurance the infection rate would plummet. I asked whet the profit margin was on their fuck up.
Seemed to fall on uncaring retarded ears.
