I called the hospital patient reps about the stream of red tape they keep throwing my way. I expressed my approval of some of the doctors but disappointment in their billing process. I asked that they assist me is cleaning up the red tape.

They explained that the hospital is like a warehouse, instead of goods, they warehouse doctors and their services and I would need to deal with each provider separately.

I attempted to explain that was the exact problem, they have this bunch of doctors running around willy-nilly as separate services, some in my insurance network, some out of my insurance network. That I need assistance in wrapping this all up into something manageable.

Seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Then I also asked about the infection LeAnn picked up in the hospital, as this five month $525,000 cluster fuck all started with a hospital grade super bug. A hospital grade super bug you don’t pick up just anywhere, you can only get them in a hospital. Where was the hospital’s responsibility in preventing the infection that started this entire mess? They explained that infection is typical risk of surgery, and I understand that. But this went further than a simple little pile of puss on an incision. This became deadly serious and made our life miserable, I did not think this fell under “oh well, those are the risks” situation. As a matter of fact, why I’m I even paying one red cent? I bet if the hospital had to cover costs of post surgical infection as opposed to the patient and insurance the infection rate would plummet. I asked whet the profit margin was on their fuck up.

Seemed to fall on uncaring retarded ears.

Then there are the invidual providers.

NorthWest Anesthesia:

Originally billed us for $450 dollars after insurance. I sent them two checks for $100 in 2007 and one for $250 in January 2008 to settle the account.

Then in March 2008 they billed us for an additional $400 for the surgery back in July 2007. They claim there we items uncovered by insurance and that we are now on the hook for it. And by the way since the date of service was July 2007, we are seven months late w/ penalties, interest and letters printed on red paper with collection theats even though I had not seen a bill for this until March 2008.

I should be able to get this settle through insurance, but what a bunch of assholes. They send you a bill out of the blue and you're alreasy 180 days the moment it arrived.

MINCEP - Minnesota Epilepsy Center

$6,500 to $6,800

These clowns were called in after LeAnn had her stroke and seizures by the neurosurgon in September 2007. But the first I heard of them was the $6,500 bill we recieved in December 2007, and you guessed it, we were already three months late on payment for a bill that just arrived.

Turns out they are not in my insurance network, and I never knew they were treating LeAnn. Not one person contacted me. I've been working my ass off getting a emergency admission statement from the neurosurgon to force insurance to pay in network benifits.

In the mean time they are charging interest, and they ain't getting jack shit out of me for that.

They however feel I should pay the full bill now and they will reinburse me when the insurance payment comes in. Dick Cheney would know exactly what the reply should be, but I was more polite.

I talked with the hospital case manager, paitent rep and MINCEP about this situation. I asked each party who's responsablity it was to notify me there was a new provider caring for LeAnn and why I was not notified of a out of network provider inside a in network hospital.

I was told by each that it was my responsablity to magically know, when I never met anyone from MINCEP, never recieved a phone call from MINCEP, never a letter, never a word.

They told me it was my responability to be notified. This is where I lost my cool with them. That I'm responsable to notify myself of your presence? That's the stupidest thing I've heard since "heck of a job Brown".

In short, just why I've not gone on a shooting rampage is unclear.

Woe woe and woe, that's all I post about is woe.

So lets change gears, fuck woe.

Summer party, my place, date to be determined, keg of Summit Grand, meat on the grill, water ballons and squirt guns, free sex in the garage.
