mojocatt: (Hello Cowboy)
Back in the hole.

Getting much better sleep as of late. No real change in the time spent sleeping, but an increase in the quality of sleep. Strange, I wonder what changed, I always find myself a bit boggled when my body decides to unexpectedly shift gears. There seems to be little in the way of external factors.

Made yummy strawberry shakes last night, with real strawberries, some sugar and ice cream. The toddler was much pleased.

Still waiting on the old folks to find time to sign the car title over. Drove LeHeap in today, it is still just barely holding together. The duct tape, various adhesives and bailing wire systems are stretched to the limit. I hope they get back to me soon, the LeHeap is ready for the scrap pile in a bad way. I'll miss the caviler attitude that comes with owning a car worth $0. I mean there is the the dent in the back where I kicked it when it was having trouble starting. Fired right up after a good swift kick. Maybe I'll scrap it, maybe I won't, might be good fun to destroy in a more creative fashion.
mojocatt: (Are you Serious?)
I mean, since the LeHeap (the Dodge Neon) is worth a serious amount of nothing, I mean, you can do anything with it. I think I need a car with a periscope, cars really should come with periscopes as standard equipment. And a SETI satellitte dish for recieving signals from outer space, you may think it folly, but what if intelligent beings from another planet are tring to contact you and you can't recieve the signal because you are driving your car?

I've got a sawsall and who needs a roof? A roof and windows just gets in the way of making cat calls to the women on the sidewalk, duh. hmmmm.
mojocatt: (horny)
Rob needs women.

I consider myself an old school Bloom County fan. This new Opus and Bill / Outland / Opus stuff is real hit or miss type material that Berke Breathed is kicking out. It all depends if he roots his material in past Bloom County or current events, so as to give some perspective and or parody. Much as in the Sunday Strip where a much older Steve Dallas comes out of the closet. The only disappointment in that strip was that he referred to Opus as something fairly tame such as "chilly willy" or something; I much preferred what Steve called him in past strips, "El Blob". Or the strip where Dick Cheney comes out of the closet of anxieties dressed as a hamster.

His work has always been weird. But this new stuff can have a complete lack of any grounding what so ever, a strip like last Sunday's can just kind float there. Weird, bizarre, but completely meaningless.

And this Bill and Opus in underwear trip he has been on has to stop. The underwear is stupid.

The work of Berke is exactly that, the work of Berke, I have little say on where he takes the creative process of his intellectual property, nor should I. But it is my feeling he needs to drop all the strange excuses and work arounds and just get back to pure Bloom County. Sure the old characters would be older now, but they are well established and can be built upon. The older characters can have children, or not. Sometimes it almost feels like he is about to swing into full blown Bloom County, then he completely reverses the story. The lack of stability is getting very annoying.

Just drop all the outland crap and do Bloom County, as simple as that.
